Their Grub Of Choice

This past few days I have captured the birds capturing their grub of choice. Like this mocking bird chasing a grasshopper, I have enjoyed watching the chase. I took this at the three fountain pond, a place I go to every Sunday.

Another place I love to visit is Harford Glen. Here I got a house wren getting her grub of choice for the little ones in a bird house hanging on a tree nearby. Those babies must have been very hungry. She made this trip time after time.

Of course, my favorite place to visit is the Mariner. While watching a squirrel playing with a stick this downy woodpecker flew onto the tree next to me and pecked around for his grub.

What is my grub of choice? Not anything these birds were after this week. My grub of choice is anything I can buy at my local grocery store.

On The Attack

This is not the best picture that I have ever taken. Yet, this is one of my coolest. Yesterday as I visited one of my favorite spot, I watched as the smaller bird chase this red-tailed hawk. It was hard to follow the attach. I just like the fact I caught the moment he was getting the head.

How many wars were fought through out the year, when it seems that the underdog got his attack. It takes a brave person to undertake this one sided battle. But, at the right moment, with the best strategy, he hits the mark.

My prayers goes out to the service men and women who are in such battle today. This Memorial Day, I am taking the time to pray for each and every military personals who are on the attach to keep us free.

Drain Baby Memorial

This is the weekend that we all take the time to honor those who served in the military. So, when I went on base to do some shopping, I had to see what new outfit the drain baby would be wearing. It was nice to see him dressed to honor our service men and women.

For those of us who have not had to serve, it is hard to understand the sacrifices these brave men and women gave for our freedom. It does not matter what branch of service they were in, war they fought or how long they gave of their time. What matters is that they served and we are better off for the sacrifices they willing gave to us.

This weekend, I will do my best to honor every military person that crosses my path. Thank you for your service.

Mother's Day

As you well know, today is Mother's Day. This is a day that most people call, visit and bring gifts to those women who has touched their lives. A mother is a care taker, nurse and cook rolled into one. If you are fortunate to have one of those best mom in the world, this is the day you have been waiting for all year.

A mother provides for the well being of you. She feeds you, teaches and fights for you. Do not mess with a mother's child if you do not want to get the wrath of an angry women.

My mother was the mother of two sets of twin. God Bless her. I have seen duck with a dozen babies following her along the path of life.  She leads them from rough waters to calm seas. God bless them.

There is not much a mother will not do for her babies. So, I wish each and every mother out there a wonderful Mother's Day.

God Bless you all for all you do.

A Bug's Delight

While visiting my sister-in-law's place, I always take my camera around her property to check out all the plants. They run a nursery and there is always something new and exciting to see. It seems that I am not the only one who enjoys the flowers and plants.

There was this cool little patch of greenery that caught my eye. It was new to me and I decided to take a few pictures. It was than I notice that I was not the only one who was attracted to the plant. It seemed that it was also a bug's delight as well.

I love how God has created plants that is not only a delight to view, but it is also a place for the bugs to get their fuel for life.

It really was a good day to see the bugs and the plants around the nursery. I always look forward to each visit. It was truly a bug's delight.

Laughing Matter

Easter Sunday we headed to Greensboro to spend the day with the family. I remember several years ago seeing these black headed gulls. After we got back home, I looked them up and found out that they were laughing gulls.

This time I was determine to get pictures of them. On the way down I took several shots only to discover that I had the camera on the wrong setting and the pictures were all blurry. This was no laughing matter to me. Will they still be there on the way home? I hope so.

After a day of eating way too much food and enjoying my time with the family, it was time to head back. I drove down, so I had my husband drive back so I could be on the right side to get my shots. They were still there and seemed to multiple. So, I snapped away.

I can understand now why they are called laughing gulls. The noised was deafening. It really sounds like they were laughing.

This picture was my favorite. It looks like they were they were telling each other secrets. They properly was talking about the crazy lady taking their picture. It was no laughing matter, I got my pictures.
