Attention Getter

Throughout the week I have been taking care of a friend's cat. He loves getting my attention. So when I sit down to talk on the phone he lays at my feet and rolls around. It is his attention getter and it works. I get down and give him a good rub down.

I often wonder what it takes to get God's attention. Do I roll around with my feet in the air? Do I need to scream and shout? No. All I have to do is be in Him presence and pray. God loves it when I sit at His feet and commune with Him.

So what is my attention getter? Prayer. It works every time.

Gnatcatcher Dance

The past few days I keep seeing a new bird. Is was so tiny and hard to get a shot of. But you know me, I kept at it until I got a descent shot. Than I went home checked my bird book and discovered it was a Blue-grey Gnatcatcher.

It was a silly bird. Beside not staying in one place so I could get a picture, he would flick his tail up and down and side by side. It was like a dance. I wonder what song he was dancing  to.

It was a pleasure to watch this little guy. He made me smile. We all need to smile sometime. I hope I get to see more of the gnatcatcher dance.

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. What did you do today to help out? When people take the time to make this planet a cleaner place I can imagine the trees showing their pleasure by dancing.

Recycling, reusing and reducing the trash that we produce can make a big different. I would like to say that I do my part, but that would not be true. But I find myself more conscious about what I do with my trash.

Today is Earth Day. Tomorrow I will try my best to treat each day as if it was Earth Day and recycle, reuse and reduce my trash.

Pierced

When I was taking a picture of this egg sack I noticed that it had been pierced. Being this is the weekend of Easter it reminded me that Jesus was also pierced.

I also noticed all the thorns on the bush. This reminds of the crown of thorns that was put upon Jesus' head.

It seems that there are all kinds of reminders that helps me to put in to perspective what Jesus had to endure. Each time I take pictures I find myself reflecting on all of God's wonder and His love for me.

Today I humbled at the sacrifice that Jesus gave to me. He took all the suffering and pain along with my shame and left them at the cross. Thank you!

It is Friday

Today is Good Friday. I never really understand why they call it that. To me it is a solemn day. It is a day that a life was taken because of mankind sins.

Yet without Jesus dying on the cross I could not enjoy a life with hope. He gave so I could receive what I do not deserve.

So today is Good Friday. I thank God for today.

Rabbit Trails

"So how many rabbit trails have you gone down?" this bunny seems to be asking. "Don't follow me because I will lead you down another trail."

Through out my life I seem to keep following rabbit trails that leads to nowhere. Yet I can not help but follow old habits. Just when I think that I have conquer my short comings up pops a rabbit trail. And of course it beckons me to follow and follow I do.

The only way that I can keep from going down another trail is to give it tot he Lord. With His directions and strength I can take the path that is right for me. It will not be easy. But I must try because I do not want to go down another rabbit trail.

Baby Bunnies

About five years ago a friend of mine told me about a rabbit nest outside her house. Of course I had to run over and get some pictures.

As I think about Easter this week I can't help but think about chocolate bunnies, peeps and stuff toys to fill up a Easter basket. Easter is the second most shopped season of the year.

Easter is a time of renewal. We receive new hope because Jesus defeated death. As I think about this through out this week I want my life to be renew.

Today I will start by seeking a better understanding about Jesus life.

Rabbit Surprise

I am use to seeing squirrel and birds moving about the bushes. When I stopped to check in this bush I was surprise to see this rabbit sitting there as still as he could be. I was even more surprised when a man with his dog passed. It turned out that there were a handful of rabbits hiding in this bush.

So what is my lesson for the day? Don't underestimate how many rabbits can hide in one bush.

Palm Warbler

I got a new bird today. It is a Palm Warbler. It was about the same size as a Chickadee.

When I was watching for the Chickadee I happened to notice movement under some fallen branches. The flash of yellow caught my attention and I waited until the bird made his way out. I knew right away I was seeing a new bird for me.

This is another bird to add to my list of birds you might get to see at the Joppatowne Mariner. I am up to 61 different species. Someone once told me that they documented 113 species. I got a long way to go, but I am up to the task.

A Bit of Color

Well, the color has finally made a showing. Spring is starting to brighten up the grounds. Tulips are sprouting everywhere. I love it.

I spent the afternoon enjoying the flowers and colors that has taken the boredom of the winter months away. It is just the start and I can't wait until the colors of spring engulf all of Harford County.

Until than I will seek out what bit of color I can find.

Yellowleg

I followed the greater yellowleg all around Harford Glen. Each time that I would get close enough to take a picture he would give an alarm and fly away. It was when he was busy rushing around the water feeding that I finally got a shot off.

The fun part was watching him fish. As he rushed around the water he would dip his head and sweep his beak catching the tiny fishes.

This spring I want to try and get some great action shots. I know it will take a lot of patience and a watchful eye.  But I am up to the task. So birds be warn, I am out to get you.

Tin Project

Well, we are at it again. I love it when we get together to serve. Tonight we filled a table full of tins for the student in colleges. A treat and a prayer goes with each cans.

What started out as a small mission project has grown into a much needed moral boost for our kids getting ready for their finales. What student doesn't need a little lift with goodies and the knowledge that they are being prayed over?

So we send out each tin full of our love, prayers and the love of God.

The Catch of the Day

Today my grandson got to fish with some new found friends at Harford Glen. Here he is holding his catch of the day.Exciting as this was for him it was not as exciting for me to finally get to go to Harford Glen.

For the past several weeks I have been driving to the gates of Harford Glen hoping it would be open. Yesterday it was and I could not contain my excitement as I enter for the first time.

I was like a kid in a candy store. There was so much I wanted to do but did not know where to start. My grandson catch of the day was this fish, mine was getting to go to Harford Glen.

The Gift of Laughter

Several evenings ago I attended a comedy show. The two comedians worked together to make use laugh. It was one statement that Tim Hawkins made that got me thinking. The one thing that God had given to him to give to other was the "Gift of Laughter". For two evenings he fulfilled that gift and laughter rang throughout Mountain.

I sometime wonder what I have to offer God in return for His gift to me. I am not rich, nor do I have the gift of laughter. What little I do have I give freely. He takes it, multiplies it and makes the world a better place.

So if all you have to give is the gift of laughter, give it and see what God does with it.
