Woodpecker Heaven

I have been able to capture several woodpeckers at the Mariner in Joppatowne. This Northern "Yellow-shafted" Flicker make its presence known once in a while. I happen to catch this one by chance parking next to a tree.

The most common woodpecker in the park is the Downy Woodpecker. This female is enjoying making a lot of noise pounding away on this tree.

It is a little harder to catch this guy leaving his marks on the trees. The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker leaves a nice pattern on each tree. You can see why they call him a yellow-bellied.

One of my favorite is the Red-bellied Woodpecker. It is easy to catch a good shot of him. He loves the peanuts that I put out for the squirrels.
.
One of the newest one that I have been able to catch is the Hairy Woodpecker. It has not been easy to get a good enough picture to post. The hairy and downy look so much a like, that it took me a while to realize that this one was a hairy.

The Pileated Woodpecker just happen to fly onto this tree and stayed long enough for me to get one shot off. This is the best I can do to make it clear enough to view.

The one woodpecker that will make my list complete has yet to make a showing. There is one woodpecker that I have not seen at the Mariner, the Red-headed Woodpecker. It will truly be a woodpecker heaven for me if he ever shows up at the Mariner.

Even The Sparrow Knows

The sparrow in this picture knows that when I come around, I will leave some food on the post for him. He is not afraid of me. I need to be like him and not be afraid of God's plans for me.

There is this song I love to listen too when I am feeling overwhelmed. It is by Jason Gray, called "Sparrows."

This one line causes my heart to stay still for just a moment, "Oh even the sparrow knows He holds tomorrow."

I tend to forget that my life is in the hands of a loving God. He knows me inside and out. When I am in a low spot in my life, like the sparrow, I need to know, "If He hold the world He can hold this moment."

With each shot of the camera of the many sparrows that crosses my path, I cannot help but hear this song going through my mind. It gives me hope in a world that seems to be falling apart.

Even this sparrow knows where his helps comes from. I thank God for the sparrows.

Dove's Love Dance

Well, this was a first for me. I do not usually look to take pictures of doves. But, this pair seemed to be doing some kind of dance. For several minutes they would stick their beaks into each other mouth. It was like they were french kissing.

They would groom each other, rub against each other and just seemed to enjoy the dance. What I was not expecting at all, was the dove on the right getting on the back of the other dove. It turned out to be a mating ritual that these dove were doing. It was a dove's love dance.

It was kind of cool to watch. Not that I enjoy animal porn. I just enjoy how nature works. It is how God designs his creatures to interact and continue the species.

It was apparent that these doves love to dance with each other. I look forward to seeing some little doves in the future.
