Eagle War

The other morning while sitting at the marsh I notice a bald eagle sitting on a tree in the middle of the marsh. Off to the right another bird of pray was diving into the marsh trying to catch something.

As soon as it flew up the eagle took off after this other bird. This went on for quite awhile. I really am not sure what kind of bird this one was. But it was as big as the eagles.

There turn out to be two bald eagles along with a juvenile eagle. At least I think this other bird was a juvenile. After the other bird left the three eagles landed into a nearby tree to rest.

It really was a sight to see the interaction of these great birds. It made my morning.

Cedar Waxwing Party

At my favorite spot on the last pier in the Mariner I got to see a cedar waxwing party. There must have been at least a dozen cedar waxwing hopping from branch to branch eating the berries. This was the first time I have seen them here.

This was yesterday right after I got to play with the fox. Today I went back there and of course they were all gone. I guess they went to party some where else.

I keep thinking that I have seen it all there is to see at the Mariner. I am pleasantly surprised when God blesses me with something new. It keeps me coming back. Who know I might get to see another cedar waxwing party.

Fox Games

I spent the morning doing my rounds taking many pictures. In the next few days I will share some of the wonders I got to witness and take pictures of.

While walking around the Mariner I spotted the fox that seem to live there. I got one shot off and he went into the bushes. I waited to see where he would come out. But never saw where he went.  As I turn to continue walking there he was right in front of me on the path watching me.

He once again ran into the bushes. I lost sight again only to have him show up a few feet away from me checking me out.

This went on for ten to fifteen minutes. He seem to be playing games with me. The last sighting of him he had something in his mouth. Off he went into the bushes.

I enjoy playing the fox game with him. I hope to get to see and play more in the future.

Bear Trouble

When I walked around the Bass Pro Shop I was impress with the different displays. Once such display has a hunter crossing a wooden bridge to avoid a black bear only to have another bear on the other side. As he made it to the center the wood falls apart beneath him and he begins to fall through.

I couldn't help but think how much this represent life sometimes. It seems that we can't get away from the bears without falling through the bridge. It seems there is no hope.

When we rely on God there is always an answer. We need to let go and allow God to take control. If He can close the mouths of lions He can turn the bears away and let us fall onto soft ground.

Mariner's Bigfoot

Monday while the snow was still coming down my husband, grandson and I went to the Mariner to get some Winter pictures. Along one of the path we came across what looked like the print of a bigfoot. I had to take a picture of it. My husband put his foot next to it to show the size of the print.

Of course I do not really believe in bigfoot. I do believe there are animals that has yet to be discover both in the oceans and lands all around us. While I would have to see a bigfoot up front and personal to believe in them. I don't need to see everything in nature to believe in them. If there is good evidences to examine I will believe.

The only thing I do believe in sight unseen is the reality of Jesus. The Bible gives me the evidences to examine. It is all I need to believe.

My Good Deed

Well, I did my good deed for today. It was a long hectic day at work. We were all ready to close the doors and go home for a must needed rest. The last guest out the door and off we all went to our cars.

But something told to wait until everyone started pulling out. As I made my way behind the last car I glanced over to the store and there locked in was pour little Ellen. Looking into my rear view mirror I saw that the manager had not left the parking lot. So I whipped my car around and chased him down beeping my horn the whole way. Disaster averted and Ellen was saved.

Lesson for today. Sometime it really does pay to listen to God when He tells you to wait. I am not very good at waiting. But this time I am glad that I listen.

Common Merganser

While driving around with my husband after getting my military ID renew we went by the pond in an industrial park. Low and behold there was a bird I had not seen before. It was a common merganser. Of course I can't imagine what is so common about him.

I tried really hard to get a good picture but he would not cooperate with me. Each time I would head to the side of the pond he was at he would just swim to the other side. We played this game for a little while and then he flew away. But that is okay. It was cool watching him.

I enjoy the blessings that God gives freely to me each day. I do not have to earn it. That is what makes these blessings more valuable. God's love for me is not based on my performance. He just loves me. I am thankful for that. It helps me to face tomorrow and what life has in-store for me. Hopefully more blessings of mergansers.

First Day Of Spring

Today is the first day of spring. This does not mean that we will not have wintry days ahead. But the signs are there. The flowers are getting ready to bloom. Buds are showing up on the trees. Changes are happening.

While I can't say that we had a bad winter, it has been a long one. I have enjoy seeing the different birds these past few months. Getting out each day with out fighting the snow allowed me to learn about the winter birds of Harford County.

But I am ready for warm days and the colors of spring. It can't come soon enough.

New Life

When the caterpillar looks to the butterfly does he see that he too will have a new life?

When the butterfly looks back does he knows where he comes from? Does he realize the old life has past away?

As a caterpillar we are limited. We can only crawl around searching for food and a place to sleep.

When we build a cocoon around us and wait on God we undergo a change. But through the trials of forcing open the cocoon, we allow God to give us the strength to fly, we have new life.

Yet there are people all around me who are dying. As I fly in the wonders of God grace I need to reach out to them and offer them new life.  Who will I reach today and tomorrow? Anyone God puts in my patch.

Birthday

Today my grandson turns twelve. It is hard to believe that he started life slightly over one pound twelve ounces. Yet here he is healthy and strong by the grace of God.

I have so much to be thankful for each day. I am reminded of this as each of my grandchildren celebrate their birthdays. My granddaughter turned eight last month. Three months from now the other two granddaughters celebrates growing another year older.

The passing of each year makes me grow more conscience of my life and what is important. God, family and friends tops the list. Without them life is not worth living.

So I say Happy Birthday to my grandson. May he have many more and that I get to be there to celebrate them.

Gleaning Kinglet

Last year when I first sighted the yellow-bellied sapsucker poking holes to get the saps from the trees, I notice a little bird  feeding on the same hole after the sapsucker left. This year I know what that bird was. Today I got the chance to take its picture. It was the the ruby-crowned kinglet.

See this kinglet gleaning the left overs of the sapsucker kind of reminded me of the story of Ruth. Ruth would spend her days gleaning the field after they were harvested. Boaz would leave some of the harvest behind to help out Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi.  They benefited from the generosity of Boaz.

As this kinglet benefited from the sapsucker we can also benefit from the blessings of God. What can we glean today from God?

Geese Migration

Sunday morning it felt like every geese in Harford County were flying over our house. It seemed to be endless as I keep taking pictures. Once I got to church the migration was still going strong. What I can't figure out was where they were migrating to.

Spring is in the air and the move is on for many migratory birds and animals. Soon the ducks and birds that I have been enjoying this winter will leave to go back to their homes. That is okay. I know many more new ones will take their places this spring.

The activity around the many places that I like to visit has increase two fold. My goal this spring is to get shots of many eggs and little ones to add to my collection. I love learning new things. I think God has a lot to show me as well.

So let the migrations begin. I am ready with my camera.

Happy Birthday

Since today was my birthday I went to my favorite places to take pictures. I made my rounds to the mariner, a couple of spots in Bel Air and of course the pond where this picture was taken.

I got to have lunch with a dear friend and enjoy hearing my phone buzz as other dear friends wish me a Happy Birthday on Facebook. It was good to hear from family and friends calling to wish me a great day.

Even though I had to work today, I enjoy this bright sunny day and thank God for all my friends and family.

He Wept

I was touched by the minister take on the verse that said Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus. He was presiding at the funeral of my bosses 3 years old granddaughter and made reference to the fact the God had never attended us to die.

Death seem senseless when there is a child involved. How do you except losing someone who just begun life? The only comfort for the family is that this precious child is home with the Lord.

Jesus wept, for this child, for the pain of the loss and for those left behind. But there is hope in Jesus. One day all His people will meet again in Heaven.

The Calm

Today was a great day. The sky was blue, the winds were calm and there were no clouds to be seen. Is this the calm before the storm?

We really have not have the big storm this winter. I am not complaining. I am not looking forward to tomorrow. Will we have 3 inches or more? Time will tell.

So I got my milk, bread and snacks. I am ready for what tomorrow brings. Are you?

Looking For An Handout

Today as I headed  to work I made my stop by the pond in Bel Air. As I pulled into the parking space the seagulls surround my car looking for a handout. I did not have anything.

A few minutes later a pickup pulled in and all the seagulls flew to his truck. I watch this happen every time I visit the pond. The seagulls make their rounds looking for anyone who is willing to hand out food to them.

We all know people like that. What we don't know is why they are that way. What circumstances in life made they feel that the only way to get anything is receiving hand out.

I find myself praying for these people. There are many times that I have received handouts. Circumstances in my life made it a necessity. I don't think of myself as a beggar. Yet God has put me in situations that calls for me to ask for the things needed.

So when someone comes to me asking for a handout I try my best to help. Because I do not always know what they are going through. But God does. It is the least I can do.

No Action Here

Today my husband, grandson and I went to the Conowingo Dam to see if there was any eagles hanging around. Not only were there no eagles, there were no herons and just a couple of buzzards. There was no action happening here.

We decided to head to the HDG boardwalk. On the way there we took a detour to see a eagle nest a friend told me about. There was a father and his son already there with a camera set up waiting for the eagles. He told us he think there are some eggs in the nest due to the action of the eagles. But again I saw no action.

The next stop was the boardwalk. Not much action there either.

While there seem to be little action anywhere I did enjoy the time with my husband and grandson. Sometime the only action I need is spending time with family.

What Would You Do?

This morning when I went to McDonald to get me some ice tea and a breakfast burrito I let there not looking into the bag. So when I got to my first destination I open the bag to eat my burrito. To my surprise there we also two McMuffins in the bag as well.

So the dilemma started. Do I take it back? No. They will just throw it away.

Should I go back and pay for it? I called to see if they wanted me to. No answer.

Do I eat them. No. The burrito filled me up.

So I took them home and put them in the refrigerator.

Now here is the question of the day. What would you have done?
