Go With The Flow

I think it is cool the way the clouds were going with the flow of the mountains. As the wind would go over the peaks the cloud would follow along. The clouds did not fight the winds but allowed the wind to control them.

How much easier my life would be if I was like the clouds and allow God to control me. Instead of fighting and trying to go my own way I would go with the flow of God's direction.

I might have to go through high peaks and low valleys but I would be in the hands of the One who knows what is best for me. So today I plan on going with the flow of God.

Hard To See

Do you see what is blended in this picture? I will give you a hint. It is a bird. Look at the base of the tree. It is hard to see. There is a great blue heron standing next to the tree. It blended in so well I almost missed it.

There has been so many things in my life that I almost missed out of because I could not see it. Things are not always clear to me and I need my friends and family to point them out to me. And sometime I need God to knock me off my feet to see something.

So each day I try my best to not just look but see. I don't want to miss anything that God, my family or my friends have to show me. So if there is something in my life that is hard to see, please point it out to me.

Fish Bread

I watched as this fellow threw whole slices of bread into the pond. The geese and ducks made their way post haste and proceeded to devour the slices. As some of the bread floated away I notice that something else was attacking the bread.

They were sucking big holes from underneath and it took me awhile to see what was the culprit. The culprit were fishes. Catfishes to be exacted. It seems that the bread was not just for the birds they were fish breads as well.

You never know what a person will like until you put it out there for them to try. My grandson is always willing to take a small bite of the meals I fix. He always said he likes it, but the look on his face tells a different story. But when I find things missing from the frig, I know who is the culprit.

So what am I willing to try today? Whatever it is it will not be fish bread.

Happy Dessert

Have you ever had food make you smile? Whenever I make banana pudding I smile with anticipation at the thought of the first spoonful. I am smiling right now just looking at this happy dessert.

Desserts can make you happy and sad. When you are on a strict diet desserts can make you very sad. You deny yourself the pleasure of its sweet taste. Of course you can go with the desserts made with artificial sweetener. But it is not the same.

With the holidays fast approaching there will be many desserts to be tasted. But none will every make me as happy as banana pudding. This is truly my happy dessert.

Second Chance

Okay. Got a second chance to get a better shot of the cormorant. Of course he was not so willing to let me get the picture right away. He stayed on the island part for over an hour. But I had time to wait and wait I did.

He finally decided to get into the water. After chasing him around the pond for another half an hour I yelled out to him. "I had to leave to go to work. The least you could do was let me get your picture." It seemed to work. That darn bird swam right straight for me, got out of the pond within a few feet of me and spread his wings.

So you know that I snapped away, getting me some great pictures.

Don't I wish that life could be so easy to control. Yell at it and watch it do my bidding. But that is wishful thinking. I guess I just have to be content with yelling at a cormorant and getting a second chance for a great picture.

Doesn't Act Like The Rest

Yesterday while sitting by the pond in Bel Air I notice a bird that was not acting at all like the rest of the ducks and geese. I had not planned on getting out of the car buy my curiosity got the better of me. When he got up onto the small island and spread his wings to dry off, I knew right away what it was.

It was a cormorant.

This was the first time that I had seen one at this pond. He seemed out of place. He did not act like the rest of the fowl who call this place home. Yet he seem to feel right at home.

Many time when I am out in the crowd I don't always act like the rest. I don't drink or smoke. But I do get silly and can enjoy a good time like the rest. Like the cormorant I feel right at home.

I'm Cute

It was like this bird was saying "Take my picture. I'm cute."  Well I would have to agree. He is cute.

When ever I see any bird I think they are cute. Except the buzzards. Man are they ugly. But all the other birds are so darn cute. Especially the babies.

Well, babies of any creatures are cute. Even a buzzard's baby.

What is it about babies that makes them so cute? I think God did this so that we will protect them. Babies are so helpless and need our love to help them grow.

Sometimes I act like a baby and I wonder if God thinks I am cute. Than I remember that I am God's child. He loves me and wants to protect me. So I guess in His eyes I am cute just like this bird.

Happy Anniversary

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary. Like most marriages we have had our ups and downs. But he is the sunshine of my life and I think I will keep him around.

Happy Anniversary!

Flower Bug

I guess you can say that I have become somewhat of a flower bug. I am attracted to the colors, scents and beauty of the many different flowers. But I don't want to be the kind of bugs that destroys them. I want to be like the bee that adds to the all over health of the flowers.

I want to treat people the same way. I am attracted to the many shapes, sizes and colors of all my friends. I want their life to be better each time that we meet. I want to be the reason they grow healthier and stronger.

God feels the same way about me. Each time we meet He wants me to grow. He made me a flower bug.

Frame It

When I took a photography class last year the teacher said that you should always take the picture with the mind set that you will frame it and hang it on your wall. When I take pictures it is so that I can tell a story, write my blog and hold onto a memory.

I will take pictures of any and everything. I will even take pictures of other taking pictures. It is the excitement of catching a rare moment of time that keeps me motivated. Every once in a while I do take a picture that I want to frame.

Today I helped a friend capture pictures that she might want to frame. I put out peanuts, bird seeds and stepped back so that she could get her moment. One time I took batteries out of my camera to help a stranger get her chance. I have taken other friends to some of my favorite spots so that they could snap away to their heart content. All for that picture that they might want to frame.

It is the pleasure that I get from taking pictures. If I could frame anything. I would frame it.

Long Neck Heron

I am always amazed at how long herons can stretch their necks. One minute they seem to have no neck and within a flash their neck grows longer than their bodies.

It the same with the great blue heron, the green heron and this bittern. This ability gives the extra edge to catch their next meals.

All of us have some special ability. We can use our talents to help, encourage and support each other.

I like using my camera to brighten some one's day. If I can make you smile than I am using what God has given to me. I can stretch out my neck and bless you.

Deer Tick

The other day while coming out of Harford Glen a small family of deer ran in front of my car. I stopped to take a picture of course. Only because one of the deer had spots all over it. It turned out to be deer ticks.

My heart went out to this deer. I can't even imagine how miserable she must be. You wonder why God created ticks.

There are so many things in my life I wonder why God allows. Some times they are just simple annoyances and other times they are big problems. Some times they are just a bunch of ticks and I am miserable.

But I take it one day at a time. I treat the ticks, endure the small things and rely on God for them all. And I sent a prayer to God for the poor deer.

Foggy Morning

The fog set in and I set out to catch a foggy picture. But it was hard getting the camera to focus on an abject. At one of my favorite stops I barely notice a hawk on the tree. He was hunting.

What impressed me it that he seems to be able to see through the fog. I watched as he would eye a possible target and get ready for the attack only to settle back down. The fog did not detour him from his daily activity.

It helped me to see that even though I might not be able to see clearly the direction that God has me going. I need to keep going. God see clearly and I need to trust that he will lead me to the target.

So today even though it was a foggy morning I will trust God and keep going.

Stick Out In A Crowd

Do you ever notice that there are those you just stick out in a crowd? Some with the way they dress, some with their personality and others with just their presence. They seem to demand attention.

When you walk into a room your eyes are drawn to them. Everyone else seems to blend into the background. You might want to be just like these like them.

God see us that way. His love for us make us stand out in a crowd. He made each and everyone of us special. We can stand tall or short, dressy or plain, and out in the open or against the wall. It does not matter to God. We are unique.

I am one of those short, plain dressed and stand back kind of person. Yet I know God see me every time in the crowd. I am glad that I do stand out in a crowd.

Pumpkin's Season

When the Fall season hits I think about pumpkins. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin bread. Carved pumpkin. It becomes pumpkin season for me.

Autumn signals a chance in season. It is my favorite time of the year because of the colors. The weather is not so hot and unbearable. At the same time the weather is not freezing cold. I look forward to my walks and finding new treasures.

But most of all I look forward to the pumpkin pies. So I will be on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin for carving, for baking and for taking pictures. I love pumpkin's season.
