Turtle Dilemma

It look like this turtle had a dilemma. As I was making my rounds to check on my favorite sites I came across a turtle trying to climb up a curb. It look like he might make it but kept falling back time after time.

My grandson and I watched for about fifteen minutes. Than I let him rescue the turtle and put it on top of the curb. With in minutes the turtle made its way to the pond at the bottom of the hill.

How many time have I try to do things that kept me falling back? I would try and try again only to keep failing. I am so glad that I have a God who cares enough to pick me up and put me on top. Than I can reach the water of life and be refresh.

Look Out The Window

I have missed being able to walk around my stomping grounds and getting pictures of the great outdoor. For the past five days I have been too busy.

Once I put my grandson on the bus each morning I would head out the door to go and take care of my youngest granddaughter. When that was done I would leave from there to work until 9:30pm. There just wasn't enough hour in the day for walking.

Little did I know all I had to do was look out the window to see the great outdoor. When I looked out the front window I watched a squirrel digging for food. Looking out the back window I got to see the interaction of a mother robin feeding her baby.  The side windows offered many other birds going about their business.

With each discovery I got to watch my granddaughter carry her foot stool to each location and get as excited as me over our find.

So whenever I miss the outdoor all I need to do is look out the window.

They Are Back

The caterpillars are back. Everywhere I look there they were on the leaves, fences and ground. The trees are full of these soon to be butterflies. I find myself eager to see what this summer season will produce. I know there will be many shape, sizes and colorful combinations.

While I wait in anticipation of this event I will seek out as many different caterpillars as I can. Last year I was in awe at the uniqueness of these insects. So I know that this year will bring many new wonders.

Today I will settle with the discovery of this one caterpillar. Tomorrow more discoveries await my desire. I am ready to face tomorrow.

Massage

When I come home from work I would give anything to have someone give me a good massage. These two squirrels were taking turns massaging each other. At least that is what it appeared to be what they were doing.

This old body seems to feel the aches and pains of working too hard. I keep trying to do the work of a twenty year old person. But I am over fifty and nearing the sixty mark.

I am happy to be able to work. It is a blessing that I have a job that I do enjoy. So tonight I will not get my massage. Tomorrow I will go to work and try again. This time I will try and do the work of a thirty year old.

Keeping Cool

The best way to keep cool on a hot day is to get wet. What better way to do this then to get in a wading pool with a sprinkler showering you with cool refreshing water. Even the family dog was looking to get a piece of this action.

Memorial weekend is a time for family gatherings and cookouts. But it is also more, it is a time for reflections of why we have the freedom to enjoy a dip in the pool.

This weekend as I make my round being with family and friends I also send a prayer out to the men and women who have and still continue to fight for our freedom. Thank you and God Bless you.

Playing With Food

How many times have I told my kids not to play with their food? Yet I took pleasure in watching this bird playing with his food. For about ten minutes he would dip the catfish in the water and flip the fish around before he finally swallowed the fish whole.

God's creatures always gives me pleasure. The interactions and reactions to life circumstances helps me to understand this world a little better. I learn that God does provide for the least of them.

I may never play with my food. I will enjoy the things that God shows me each day. Especially watching the animals as they play with their food.

Turtle Lure

So what lures you? It seemed that this bobbin lured this turtle around when my grandson was showing me his fishing skill. Each time he would cast out the hook and real in the line a turtle would follow the bobbin.

I wonder what it takes to lure me to God? What bait does God have to throw in front of me to get me to follow His will for my life? Whatever it is I hope I chase after it just like this turtle.

Let It Bee Spring

Nothing tells me that spring is here better than the bees. When I see the bees going from flower to flower I know that pollinating is going well and the cycle of life for us all will continue.

It is hard to believe that something so tiny as a bee can make or break out food chain and put us all into a dire situation. I never thought that I would come to understand and appreciate bees.

Let it be a Bee Spring. Because without them we would not be able to enjoy the fruits of spring.

Chickadee's Mealtime

Today after a nice hearty breakfast at IHOP my husband and I took a walk. We talked about the birds and I showed him where a pair of chickadees had a nest.

Just the other day one of them was making sure that their babies were having a hearty breakfast as well. A nice juicy green bug was the meal for the morning. I watched as she went back for a second bug and then for a third. Of course green juicy bugs are not what I would want for a mealtime.

I just love how God provides for even the least of these creatures. They don't fret over where their next meal will come from. They just go and find the harvest that God has place there for them.

I need learn from the chickadee's mealtime and trust in my Lord..

Nest Surprise

I had been keeping an eye out on some praying mantis egg sacks by the base clinic. It had been a while since I checked on them. So the other day I had to go for some blood test.

As I near the bushes I realize that it was going to be a bear to find the egg sacks. The bushes had all bloomed and you could not see into the center where the egg sacks were. So I began my search.

To my surprise I can across a small nest with two blue eggs. I never even saw any birds flying around. So I have no clue what kind of bird will hatch from these. But you know me I will keep checking until I find out.

I quit looking for the egg sacks. Now my focus will be on this nest surprise. I can't wait to see the outcome.

Spider Sense

This spider was in a bind. He was fighting for his life.

After the rain storm the water came rushing in and swept the spider into the water. Before he knew what hit him his spider sense took over. He began running across the water hanging onto branches, leaves and other things floating in the water. I watched as he would go under only to pop up again. I started cheering him on and I hate spider.

Many times I find myself in a bind. The waters of life knocks me down, my spider senses kicks in and I begin the fight of my life. I forget that I have a Savior who not only cheers me on but makes a way for my rescue.

So the next time the rains come and the water overtakes me I will use the sense that God gave me and call out to Him.

Make a Splash

Sometime we have to make a splash to get notice. That is exactly what this tern did when he collided with the water. If he got what he was after I can not say, it all happened too fast.

Time after time he would give it another shot. I would be looking one way only to have him hit the water behind me. It was the splash that got my attention.

How many times in my life have I made a splash just to get notice? If it did not work the first time I would give it another shot.

I am so glad that I don't have to do this to get God to notice me. All I have to do is be still and wait and God sees me every time.

Mother Duck

Today I set out to get a picture of a mother in action with her babies. A young family passing me mention that there was a family of ducks nearby. So off I went to get my shot.

Being the good mother that she was she gather her brew and began to swim away as fast as she could protecting her babies from me. I wanted to tell her that I am a mother too and would never harm her little ones.

It takes a mother to understand a mother. So I understood why she was in a hurry to get away. I would do anything to protect my children.

So I say to this mother duck great job and Happy Mother's Duck Day.

After The Rain

Today I spent the afternoon at Harford Glen Nature Center. I did not get to stay too long because of the heavy rain. I do not drive in the rain so I sat in my car waiting.

After the rain I took another walk around the center, got some good pictures and saw some cool things. Than it started to rain again. So I waited a little longer and headed home. As I past one of my favorite sites there sat a bald eagle on a dead tree.

I hate the rain but today it was a good thing.  I was so glad I waited until after the rain.

What Will Hatch?

A friend called to tell me that a bird had built a nest in her wreath on the front door. I told her when any eggs showed up call me and I would come over. So when the first egg showed I could not come.

For the next two days she would call to say there is a new egg in the nest. On the third day one was different than the other two. So I had to come to see for myself.

One egg was bigger and had different markings. One of the other eggs was cracked. I don't know if there are two different birds using this nest. Only time will tell.

So what is the point? The point is that sometime we have to wait for the answers to our questions. I will have to wait to see what will hatch out of these eggs. I can't speed up time. But that is okay. I will wait eagerly to find out what will hatch.

Rainbow In The Storm

Last week as the storm was approaching with all its thunder and lighten I notice right in the middle was a rainbow trying to make a showing. The clouds were swirling around it which made it hard to see. It was when the lighten flashed that I could see it more clearly.

It just reminded me about God's promises. Even when we are in the mist of a storm and can hardly make out His presence we can be sure He is there. God lights our way. We just have to hold on to His promises.
