The Heron Tree

How often I seek to take pictures of unusual  things. So when I saw some juvenile egrets sitting on a tree I have to try and get the shot. As I was taking the pictures I notice movement to the right of the egrets. To my surprise it was a great blue heron.
So I started taking pictures of it. Once again I notice movement to the right of the great blue heron. To my pleasure it turned out to be a green heron.
I was excited to witness a rare sighting. I just wanted to share.

To the Hills

Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up eyes to the hills___where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

All I have to do is look up to know where my help comes from. I cannot make it through one day with out the help of God. He is my reason for living.
Each day I go out in search of the picture to share a little of the Maker of heaven and earth. From the hills to the valleys I have taken many pictures. From coast to coast I seek to share the wonder I get to discover. I lift my eyes and behold all the beauty.

Grains of Sand

Psalm 139:17-18
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I think about the mind of God I am in awe that he would even think about me. Yet His thoughts are so vast that I cannot even begin to conceive them. I can take comfort in the fact that my thoughts reaches God and he conceive them.
As I walked along this beach my thoughts were on God and the wonders that I get to see each day.

Trust The Lord

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3: 5, 6

Each day as I face the dawn's light I must tell myself that this is the day I must trust in God. It is only when I trust Him with all my heart that I can face whatever life wants to throw at me.
When I acknowledge His will for my life and follow the path that is before me I can rest in the assurance that all will be well.

Butterfly's Wings

I always thought that a butterfly wings were just one piece. So when I took this picture I was surprise to see that they were able to separate into two pieces. You can see the beauty of the wings in more detail.
When I look at other people I sometime forget there is more to them than what I see. There are many details about them that brings out the beauty God intended all along. I just need to take the time to focus on the things that God want to show me in other.
What beauty can we all see in each other today?

Head out of Water

Even a fish needs to get his head out of the water sometime. It seemed like he was grasping for air. But he was feeding on some little insects. Yet in order to feed on them he had to leave the comfort of the water for a brief second to get them. The reward of a full stomach outweighed the discomfort of breathing in air.
We have to leave the comfort of our own water too. It may seem an impossible task but the rewards will make it worth the while.
There has been many times in my own life that I had to leave my comfort zone. Yet with the help of God I was able to endure and breath in life giving air.

Surprised Osprey

As I was watching for anything to take a picture of at Harford Glen I saw an osprey flying my way. When he landed in a tree just above my head I surprised him when I raised my camera to take his picture. He wasn't happy about it and of course flew away. I guess he doesn't like surprises.
I don't always like surprises. I like knowing what to expect and how to react.
Being over fifty you would think not much would surprise me. Yet God surprises me  all the time. Like having this osprey land in a tree above my head. Thank you God.

Pelican

One of the cool bird that I got to see this vacation was the brown pelican.
We were able to get up close and personal with them. They were everywhere. It was interesting to watch as they would dive for their meals.
They did not seem to be afraid as we got close enough to take pictures. I wish it was that way each time I try to take pictures of all the other birds and animals. Can you imagine the great shots I would get.
Well anyway I just wanted to share. Enjoy.

The Worm Within

I hate to see a flower get devoured by a worm. As the worm eats it way through the center it causes the flower to decade. Once the worm does it damage there is no hope for this flower.
In some way the worm is like the sin in my life. When I allow it to move around freely it start to devour me from within. If I don't get rid of it right away it will cause my life to be ineffective for God.
But I do have an insecticide that will wipe the worm from inside. When I turn to God, He goes right to work and cleanses me of my sins.
I need to daily seek God's help. Only through God can I be free from the worm within.

A Bug's Life

Even though I find myself taking pictures of wild life and landscapes I seem to enjoy getting pictures of bugs. The lives of bugs peaks my interest. Especially when they are colorful like this grasshopper. Bugs comes in all shape and sizes. A bug's life can range from far beneath the ground to soaring in the sky. God has equipped them to thrive in their place in life.
We to can thrive in whatever place in life God has placed us. He has equipped us with what we need to live far beneath the ground or high above the clouds. We can live the bug's life.

Break in the Cloud

Sometime we get so overwhelmed  by life trials that we just pray for a break in the cloud. We need the light of God to shine through and give us a little ray of hope. When we are able to hang on to that ray of hope we can make it through another day of storms.
So I just asking who ever is facing trials today just look for that ray of hope. Know that God is sending you His ray of hope. Tomorrow the sun will come out.

Look at Me!

Look at me! That is what one dragonfly seems to be saying to the other. He was putting on a show.
My grandson tells me everyday "Look at me". He wants me to see what he can do and give him my full attention. Of course I do.
How many times I have said "Look at me" hoping someone would notice what good thing I am doing. What I need to do is focus on looking at God. It is only when I look at Him can I get it right. This is when I can say "Look at me" knowing that when I am doing God's will others can see Him in me.

Yellow Spider

As much as I like taking pictures of flowers it was the yellow spider on this flower that caught my attention.
My grandson loves spiders. So whenever I see a new one I capture it on my camera just for him.
Than we try to figure out what kind it is. It is a way to get my grandson to learn something new about the things of God.
There is so much that I still have to learn myself. But in the meantime I will go out walking each day. I will spend time with God and together I will learn a little more about Him and His will fro my life.

Chipmunk

I love critter big or small. So each time I go on vacation I try to catch a picture of one of the smallest one, the chipmunk. My cousin will tell you I get obsess with getting the picture. But they are so cute.
So tonight I will share one of my favorite shot from this summer vacation.
God care about His creation big or small. He care even for the least of these. I know he cares for me as well. So I rest in the assurance that He loves me.

A Different Kind of Panoramic

When Don came across this waterfall he decided to try and take a panoramic picture of it. But instead it being a horizontal picture he made it a vertical picture. It turned out kind of cool.
We don't always have to look at things the way others do. God has given us the gift of seeing things the way He wants us to.
The beauty of nature helps me to see the wonders of God. It is good that others can capture it on film, on canvas and through song.
Thank you God for the eyes to see, the ears to hear and the mouth to sing your praises.

Feeding Time

Today I got to watch the swallows get their meal by fly by delivery. Each time the parent swallows would fly near they would all hold their mouths wide open for the bounty of bugs that they were catching. It was a sight to watch and even more fun trying to get this shot. But it was worth it.

Facing Off

These young buffaloes seemed to be facing off. They were butting heads and having a great time sparing. When they become fully grown they need to be able to defend themselves against attacks from wolves and other adults buffaloes. So this seemingly innocent game help to prepare them for what life might bring to them.
When we were young we also had to prepare for our adult lives. We had to learn to cope with what lives had to hand us good or bad. Facing our future head on with the help of God makes facing off seem like child's play. I know that I will rely on God for all my battles in life.

Monotone Picture

I wonder if I could take a good monotone picture. I like this one because it tells a story of a family enjoying the beach. A picture does not have to be colorful to be enjoyed.
The same thing can be said for life. I do not have to have a colorful life to enjoy it. My life might seem dull to others. But I find that it suits me well.
God looks at each of our lives and fines pleasure in them when we allow Him to bring about the colors that he designed. Monotone or multi-color our lives are the right color.

Look Out Fawn

I always love getting the chance to take a picture of baby animals. Nothing is cuter than a fawn.
We just happened to spot this deer with a fawn along the roadside. The fawn did not seemed to be afraid. While the mother was looking out for the fawn, the fawn was looking out for us. He was just as curious about us as we were about him. His mother did persuade the fawn to run into the woods with her.
Sometime we get curious about what we do not understand. There can be danger in that. But we do have a God who protects us from our own curiosities. He is there to persuade us to follow him. When we do we make it to safety.
Today I will follow God where ever He leads, because I know my curiosity can get me into trouble. I need to look out for God and not to things that takes my eyes off of Him.

Phone Booth

Here is something you don't see too often anymore. A phone booth. I can not even remember when the last time that I even used one. With the use of cell phones, i-pads and all the other gadgets out there I would have thought that they would have done away with phone booths.
Yet it is good to see one. There were many times on our vacation that we were unable to use our devices. There just were not any signal to be had for miles. How dependent we have come on our gadgets.
There is one that we can depend on no matter where we end up. God is there even when there is no signs or signals to be had for miles. God is not limited by our technology. I am so glad that I just have to call out in prayer and He hears and answers.

World Guy

While on vacation we saw this guy pushing a world on the 101 freeway heading from Oregon to California. I didn't think too much about it. I just thought this guy must be making a statement. What it was I did not know and could only guess. When looking at this picture I notice a web address on it .http://www.worldguy.org/ .
It turns out that he is doing it to bring awareness to though who have diabetes. So my hat goes off to him. I hope that there are people who take the time to visit his web site. I know I will to see his progress.
