The Good and The Bad

The good and the bad are part of everyone's lives. I am no exception. The start of vacation began good. We got off to an early start and the traffic was great.

The bad, Don was falling asleep at the wheel. The good, I wasn't tire so I gladly took over driving.

The bad, I made a wrong turn and got a flat tire going off the exit. The good, we were able to pull into a parking lot and change the flat with the spare donut.

The bad, the donut only lasted a few miles and went flat. The good, while waiting for the AAA tow-truck to come and get us a flock of cedar wax-winged birds were playing in the trees next to the car and I got some nice pictures.

The bad, the tow-truck ran out of gas on the way to BJ's. The good, the guy was a pleasant man and did not charge for the extra miles.

The bad, BJ's did not have the right size tire. The good, the guy there filled our donut with air so we could go up the street to try there.

The good news we got a tire there.

Life is full of the bad and the good. We have to rely on God to see us through each day. I am thankful the we are now in Wisconsin and our vacation is going good right now.

Air Conditioner Woes

Air conditioner woes has tested my resolve to live a comfortable life here in the trailer. I do not have central air so there are portable air conditioners in several rooms.

But it is the one that is a floor model that sits in the living room that has been testing my patience. When it gets filled with water you have to open the three knobs to release the water before it overflows.

This involve taking it to the front door and letting it drain out the door. The last time I did this it has been leaking on the floor ever since. I keep having to put towels around it to soak up the water. Several time my husband, daughter and I have examine it to find the leak. But we can not determine where the problem lies.

So last night I stayed up and played with it past midnight. After I drained the water, cleaned it up and put it back into place I notice something. It was not leveled. The air conditioner was leaning forward just enough for the water to leak from the front. Once I straighten it, it seems to be working fine now.

There is a lesson here I think. I need to get my life leveled with God so that I do not leak out. Once I straighten myself I can retain the lessons that He has to teach me each day. No more air conditioner woes.

This Is A Test.

This is a test. I wanted to see if I could blog from my phone. It looks like I can. So I can blog when I am on vacation. I hope to share some of the treasures that God has to show me these next few weeks.

I know one thing I need to learn is to wait on  Lord for His direction for my life. I keep jumping ahead of His plans for me. I keep hearing "Be still and know I am your God". I need to be still.

So I am not sure how to insert a picture from my phone to show you all God's wonders, I can write about them. So for now I will be still.

How Does He See It?

Watching the heron searching the mucky water at the Bel Air pond I wonder how he could see anything at all. Yet he saw something and stuck his head deep into the pond and pulled out a catfish.

I wonder something how God can see through the mucky water of my life. Yet He does and picks out the bounty that is in me. Through the mucky water He helps me to produce good things.

I am so glad that God see the true me, not the mucky me,

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day.  For the past several years my church celebrates Father's Day with a car show. Today as you make your way to view the cars you are greeted by this guy painting an Happy Father's Day sign.

Today is the day to remember your fathers and the lessons you have learned. It is a day to show them your love and appreciations for the sacrifices they have given.

So to all the fathers out there. Happy Father's Day. May God bless it richly.

I Don't Want to go to Work Day

This is one of those I don't want to go to work day. Come on. After these past few rainy days who wants to go to work on a beautiful day like today?  I am so glad that I didn't have to go until this afternoon. It was great walking and taking in the blue sky and cool temperature.

With every storms in life there are clear days to follow. We just have to wait for time to past. Just wait on God and He will bring us through the storms. With out the storms we can not appreciate the sunny days.

So until the next storm I will thank the Lord for more beautiful days like today.

Turtle Crossing

Today I visited my favorite marsh. Nothing exciting was going on so i decide to pull out to go tot he Mariner. As I looked into my rear view mirror I notice a turtle getting ready to cross the street. Just than a car came just  missing the turtle.

When I saw the semi turn onto the street I knew the turtle would be crushed. But to my surprise the truck stopped and the driver got out and proceeded to escort the turtle back to the marsh. Noe that was cool to watch.

How often do we try to cross the roads of life in spite of the dangers. Yet our God who loves us stops what He is doing to escort us to a safer place.

Close Encounter

Arthur and I watched "Close Encounter of the Third Kind" the other day. It was a story of aliens coming to Devil's Tower. I remember thinking when the movie first came out that I would love to go to Devil's Tower one day. So in 2005 we got to go. Of course I did not experience any alien encounter that day.

I did however experience a close encounter with God. I was in awe at the wonders that I was seeing. Each year that God allows me go on vacation I experience something new and become overwhelmed with the beauty of His creations.

In a couple of weeks I will be off to my yearly vacation. I can wait to experience more close encounters with my Lord.

Sheep Dog

Over the weekend my husband and I took our grandson to see the Celtic Festival. One of the demonstration was the dogs herding four sheep. The owner of this dog used a whistle to direct him. The owner and the dog were one as they maneuver the sheep from one location to another.

I wonder how in turn I am with God? Do I listen with eager ears for His direction?

I know I am one of His sheep. I know that without Him I am lost. So I watch and wait for His herding voice.   Because I want to lead by no one else.

Don't You Have Wings?

The other day while working on my pictures I happened to notice movement inside my light. There trying to climb out of the lamp was a stink bug. I wasn't touching it so I went back to work on my pictures.

Every once in a while I would look up to see it still struggling to get climb out. He would make it up half way and slide back to the bottom causing the lamp to flicker. This went on for over half an hour.

I had had enough and yell to the bug "Don't you have wings." I could not understand why he just didn't fly out.

But God reminded me that I am just like the stink bug. I try to do things on my own power even though I keep failing. I can hear Him saying "Did I not give you wings?"

I turned the light off, went to bed and prayed that tomorrow I will try not to be like the stink bug and use my wings.

I Missed It

I found out today that I missed seeing a snapping turtle lay eggs at the Mariner. This past Friday she made her way up the shore to the picnic area and dug a hole and proceeded to lay hr eggs for everyone to see.

I missed it because I was feeling under the weather and had not been to the Mariner all week. But now that I know that there are eggs I will be keeping an eye on the spot hoping to see a lot of little turtles like the one pictured here.

I came across this guy two weeks ago when I almost stepped on him. If it wasn't for another guy telling me to watch out this little guy would not be here today.

So for the next 9 to 12 weeks I will be checking on the nest. I just hope the babies don't hatch when I am on vacation. I don't want to miss that.
